Our Mission, Our Work

Our purpose is to coordinate and facilitate joint action for the benefit of the Ghanaian Community in the United Kingdom in spirit of One Nation and One Voice.

The NCGU has been serving the Regional Unions community since 2013. It is a non-profit voluntary organisation established to bring Ghanaians from all walks of life together fostering a common bond and projecting our cultural identity.

Ideological Orientation

The NCGU shall be a non- partisan organisation and it shall not align itself with any faith group or political party either here in the UK or in Ghana. NCGU shall remain neutral in the way it conducts its affairs, and shall not be motivated in any way by any political or religious ideologies. NCGU shall place the interests, welfare, and the wellbeing of its members and the community above all partisan views in respect of political, religious ethnic, tribal or sectarian interests.

Joining NCGU

NCGU MembershipNCGU is not exclusively only to Ghanaian groups alone but shall also be open to non-Ghanaian community groups operating from any of the regional administrative jurisdictions of the United Kingdom who are interested in furthering its purposes and agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of the NCGU upon becoming a member.

COLLABORATION

NCGU shall collaborate with UK and Ghanaian authorities to promote good citizenship and provide support, guidance and opportunities for Ghanaians and friends of Ghana resident in the United Kingdom.

Advice & Guidance

At NCGU, we provide an impartial evidence based advice and counselling service through our regional affiliates.

How We Manage Our Affairs

The governance of the NCGU is vested in the management committee [trustees]. The committee is the highest decision making and accountable body of our union. The management committees are the persons who are legally responsible and having the overall control and management of the administration of NCGU.

The management committee members also have the ultimate responsibility for the good governance and strategic direction of our union. The committee members are all volunteers and receive no remuneration or financial benefit for the work they do for the umbrella body.

Regions We Support

The NCGU shall act as the sole National Umbrella Body in the United Kingdom, representing all the Ghanaian Unions, Associations, and other groups in the UK. The unions and associations are the Regional Umbrella Bodies operating in any of the regional administrative jurisdictions of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland: namely Greater London, South East, South West, East Midlands, West Midlands, North East, North West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

NCGU Programmes are designed to bring awareness of Ghana’s culture to the wider UK Ghanaian Community.

The welfare of the Ghanaian community in the UK is at the top of our agenda. We work in collaboration with the Welfare Section of the Ghana Embassy etc.

We provide expert support that is tailored to the needs of organisations. This is achieved through capacity building, conflict resolution, and networking opportunities. We also offer information and advice on a number of issues including organisational development etc
